In my busy busy busy piece I mentioned that I was taking myself to task with multiple 30 day challenges this month to "re-ignite my fire". Well I think it's working, wouldn't you say?
Due to the 30 day ab challenge I opted to replace pilates, which is very core muscle dominant, with callanetics. I've chosen a video to follow that is mainly based on arms, hips and thighs. I'm quite enjoying the change, as callanetics works tiny little muscle groups rather than the big ones.
I also think my new Daily Kindness chart is helping me to stay motivated. Check out the picture below from the week I started it to this week's new invigorated state: I even went for a walk in the rain!
Simon questioned the amount of fruit we would consume as part of the menu plan. He, as a consumer, found the concept confusing. Given that we recently completed the 8 week I Quit Sugar program, where you work towards reducing your fructose intake to 2 pieces of fruit a day as your daily limit, I agreed to an extent, but I am choosing to see this as counting nutrients, not calories for the next 30 days. We won't be having any treats with added honey, maple syrup or stevia during this challenge. We are also getting a massive boost of fibre given that we're having smoothies rather than juices (plus the morning smoothie is being shared between us so this reduces fruit intake per person). This challenge is only plant based foods which helps the pocket a little too (although summer fruits can get a bit pricey).
I pushed for giving week 1 a go to see how we both felt. I think it's fair to say we'll be continuing on.
